Professional freezer table: the compact solution for frozen storage in the kitchen

The professional freezer table combines two essential functions in a pro kitchen: an ergonomic-height worktop (generally 850-900 mm) and an integrated freezer underneath. It is particularly suited to kitchens where space is counted, and where the chef needs to quickly access frozen products (fries, frozen meats, ice cream bases) without moving away from their station. Restaurants, brasseries, snack bars, pizzerias, caterers: the freezer table has become a central ergonomic element of the modern kitchen.

At Frigo Horeca, we offer a complete range of ventilated freezer tables and GN 1/1 freezer tables, from 2 to 4 doors, covering all professional kitchen needs. This page brings together everything you need to know to properly choose your freezer table, understand the differences with a vertical cabinet or chest, and optimise your production station.

Why invest in a freezer table?

The first interest is ergonomics. The freezer table is at work height: no need to bend down, no need to move away. It is a major gain in time and comfort for chefs making hundreds of movements per service.

The second is the integrated worktop. The upper stainless steel surface serves as a cutting or preparation area, multiplying the uses of the same equipment. For small kitchens, it is a decisive space gain: 1 square metre on the floor for 2 functions (freezing + worktop).

The third is versatility of use. The freezer table integrates into all kitchen configurations, in central island or against wall, and accepts both GN 1/1 plates and bulk packaged products.

In which establishments should you install a freezer table?

Restaurants and brasseries make it the pivot of their cold station: frozen meats, fries, frozen desserts within reach of the chef during service. The ventilated freezer table 2 doors is the standard format for a medium restaurant, the ventilated freezer table 3 doors or the ventilated freezer table 4 doors suit higher-throughput kitchens.

Snack bars, chip shops and pizzerias appreciate the compact 2-door format, ideal for storing frozen fries and pizza dough directly under the service station. The compact freezer table 2 doors 240 litres is perfectly calibrated for this use.

Caterers and event services use the freezer table in complement to a rapid cell freezer: preparations pass through the cell to lower temperature, then are stored on the table for immediate use or next services.

Gastronomic restaurant chefs see it as a precision tool: direct access to ice cream bases, sorbets, granitas, frozen aged meats. The DIAMOND brand, present in our range with the DIAMOND freezer table 3 doors GN 1/1 SB36/B3, is a reference in this segment.

How to choose your freezer table

Number of doors and capacity

The choice depends on volume to store and available width:

Static or ventilated refrigeration

As for cabinets, ventilated refrigeration is largely recommended in freezer table: better temperature homogeneity, faster recovery after opening, and better performance in hot kitchens (tables are often installed near plates and ovens). All our high-end models are ventilated.

Upper reserve or back guard

Some models are equipped with a back guard that prevents utensils from falling behind, or an upper reserve for vertical storage. It is an ergonomic detail that counts for daily chef comfort.

Buying the right professional freezer table

The freezer table is an ergonomic investment that must last 8 to 12 years in intensive professional kitchen use. Some rules for buying well:

Choose a recognised professional brand (Polar, Diamond and other horeca references). Mass-market models do not support professional kitchen use, and their worktop rusts quickly.

Prefer AISI 304 stainless steel for the worktop and exterior: maximum resistance to shocks, corrosion and intensive cleaning.

Think about the complete negative cold ecosystem: the freezer table works in complement to your vertical freezer cabinets (mise en place), your chest freezers (long-term storage), and your possible rapid cell freezer (HACCP cooling). On the positive side, it integrates with your refrigerated tables for perfect ergonomic coherence.

Finally, demand a minimum 2-year warranty and local after-sales service: a freezer table breakdown immobilises the entire cold station.
